The KLR 600 was Kawasaki's first water-cooled dual-purpose single, using a double-overhead-cam 564 cc engine with twin counterbalancers. Tested in 1984, it was praised for smoothness and handling but was judged a few horsepower behind its Honda and Yamaha rivals. It suits street-focused riders more than serious off-road use.
